Managing Virtual Teams

Managing and leading remote, virtual teams
Suitable for managers, leaders and senior members of remote, virtual teams and teleworking groups

The reality of today's organisations - large and small - is that more and more people are working apart from one another as remote teleworkers or members of virtual (geographically-dispersed) teams.

The returns when remote, virtual teaming is successful are considerable, but so are the risks. Due to their particular stresses, remote virtual teams are more likely to fragment and fail than face to face teams. To reduce that risk, managers and leaders need skills and approaches beyond those familiar from the face to face workplace.

Managing Virtual Teams is delivered in a highly-interactive style, focussing on the knowledge, skills and best practices that managers and leaders of remote virtual teams need to reduce the risk of their team fragmenting and failing. Theory is kept to a minimum in order to give participants practical, realistic solutions they can apply immediately.

This two-day face to face workshop can also be delivered remotely, part-time over four weeks. All participants get approx 120-page textbook-quality documentation to keep as a long-term resource - so much more useful than just a copy of the slides - plus a separate Virtual Manager's Checklist of over 60 action items covering keyaspects of remote virtual team management and leadership.


Virtual Team Manager Masterclass

Virtual Team Manager Masterclass is a concentrated day of learning designed to provide the essential knowledge, skills and best practices needed by managers of virtual (geographically-distributed) teams and remote working teleworkers.

The Masterclass will help managers and their remote working teams overcome the obstacles of communicating, supervising, leading, team-building and trusting at a distance.

This one-day face-to-face workshop can also be delivered remotely, part-time over two weeks. All participants get approx 90-page textbook-quality documentation to keep as a long-term resource - so much more useful than just a copy of the slides - plus a separate Virtual Manager's Checklist of over 40 action items covering the principal aspects of remote virtual team management and leadership.

Don't Travel - Work Remotely

What to do when it makes sense to stay home

This is a remotely-delivered class that shows you how to collaborate and manage without travelling. How? By giving you insights and best practices distilled from a decade of experience with remote work and remote management.

Valuable for anyone who wants to avoid business travel and or commuting, Don't Travel - Work Remotely is strictly focused on the most important things that managers and professionals need to do if they are to continue working, collaborating and managing without travelling.

The class is delivered remotely part-time over one week using our proprietary Learning by Wire remote instructional process. Participants will experience first-hand two of the collaboration technologies that underpin remote working. It can be delivered face-to-face by arrangement.

Working Remotely

Succeeding in the remote, virtual workplace
Suitable for members of virtual teams, teleworkers / telecommuters, flexible workers, and anyone who works remotely

This unique workshop is specially designed to provide the skills and approaches that remote workers need to make a success of the remote workplace - whether they are working at home as teleworkers, or working from an office with distant colleagues and managers as members of virtual teams. Drawing on their own experiences while learning best practices from an expert, participants will explore the benefits and drawbacks of remote work and how to overcome barriers to personal effectiveness.

Most of all, Working Remotely has a strong self-empowerment focus. It equips participants with the skills and confidence in remote working that are increasingly determining effectiveness, advancement and personal well-being.

This one-day face to face workshop can also be delivered remotely, part-time over two weeks. All participants get approx 70-page textbook-quality documentation to keep as a long-term guide, plus a separate Remote Worker's Checklist of key action items.


Virtual Team Builder

Building a virtual team's foundation for sustained collaboration
Suitable for managers, leaders and senior members of remote, virtual teams

This workshop equips participants to run Virtual Team Builder, our structured participative process for building virtual teams using behavioural contract principles. Studies have shown that thorough virtual team building pays off in team performance, satisfaction and sustained collaboration.

Virtual Team Builder Workshop is available as an extension to Managing Virtual Teams and Virtual Team Manager in both face to face and remote delivery, and is of special value when virtual teams are being formed from different organisations, or people with different professional or national cultures.
